About

Hi, I'm Emma and I'm lucky enough to live on a smallholding in the Norfolk countryside. I'm passionate about birds, animals, and nature, and I'm lucky enough to share my life with sheep, goats, chickens, a horse, and also my rescue dog Riley, who's always at my side.

I graduated with a BSc but I've always loved creating. I started painting after picking up a book by Jo Sonja Jansen in a craft shop and have never looked back. My special interest is trying to capture the unique character of birds and animals. I spend a long time observing both my own animals, and also the wildlife around me.

Birds are my favourite things to draw. In the UK we have so many bird species, who few people really know about, and I always hope my art will bring them to people's awareness. Many of these species now have severely reduced populations and it's only by increased awareness that we can save them.

I'm also interested in the process of making art. I love learning new techniques and trying to extend my skills. I do everything from drawing and printmaking, to felt and fibre crafts when I get time.

When I'm not spending time with my animals or creating, my other passion is cycling. I've done several ultra distance rides and enjoy taking part in e-sports.

I also have an interest in mental wellbeing having volunteered for two mental health charities supporting people in crisis. I think nature has a special role in wellbeing, and hope to spread my love of it through the art I produce.

My work can be purchased in my Etsy shop or Folksy shop
