Unusual gifts for waterfowl lovers - Whooper and Bewick's swan miniature paintings

 

I've recently listed two new pieces of miniature art in my Etsy shop These are handpainted pebbles that come with a display stand so they can be enjoyed in any home setting. These are affordable, original pieces of art that make a great, unusual gift for birders.

I've been lucky enough to see both Whooper and Bewick's swans at a local wildlife and wetland reserve, where they stop over on their winter migration. I actually see family groups going over my house on The Fens in the autumn and spring, although this winter there have been markedly less unfortunately. 

The way I try to remember the differences between the two is that Whoopers are more wedge shaped, both in markings and head shape, whilst the Bewick's are more rounded. Hopefully I've caught some of their elegant beauty in these two paintings.
